Support for families navigating SAT, 504 & IEP systems in New Mexico
School processes can feel overwhelming. I help families understand, prepare, and participate confidently.
Why Advocacy Matters
I recently heard from a family who was hesitant to pursue special education services for their child - not because they didn’t want support, but because of what they had seen happen before.
An older sibling had received services through an IEP, but as graduation approached, the family realized no one had explained how those decisions could impact access to exams like the ACT, SAT, or ASVAB. The student left high school feeling unprepared and limited — and the family was left feeling blindsided.
That experience created fear - not of support, but of misinformed support.
This is exactly where educational advocacy matters.
My role is not to push families toward or away from special education services. It’s to help families understand the full picture - how services work, what decisions mean long-term, and how to ensure students are supported without closing doors to future opportunities.
When families are informed, they can make confident choices.
When they’re not, they’re left to carry the consequences alone.
